Community Service is a way for Rotarians to reach out to our community.  Hands-on, active participation in community service is based on projects that touch the lives of individuals in our community.  The primary Honolulu Sunrise focus has been on projects that address literacy environmental and social needs.

Weinberg Foundation Grants

Annually Honolulu Sunrise Rotary participates with the Weinberg Foundation to provide money for a community foundation.  The Club provides the manpower and, based on our participation, the Weinberg Foundation gives a large donation to an organization that helps the community.  In the past some of the organizations funded have been the Make a Wish Foundation and the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation.  We appreciate this support from the Weinberg Foundation.

Business Gameplan 2009

The Honolulu Sunrise Rotary annual Business Gameplan has become well known throughout Hawaii.  This event features outstanding speakers.  Dave Heenan was one of the speakers at our most recent event held in the Coral Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  It is used to raise funds for our service projects throughout the community.

Other Past Community Service Projects:

  • Sunrise members painted the Stevenson Middle School girls locker room.
  • On a monthly basis the Club worked on project Soldier Support in which we send goodie bags and personal notes to each soldiers serving in Iraq.
  • Read to Me International was our Weinberg recipient
  • Business Game Plan featured Linda Coble as MC, two outstanding speakers and a panel on women in the workplace.
  • Sunrise members and the Interact Club members worked at the Honolulu Marathon from 3 am to the last cup was picked up at 2 pm.
